when I heard about Bun Bun Tea House

a cafe that specializes

I had to go try it!

My friend showed me how to make

homemade okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake)

You can buy okonomiyaki mix at any Japanese supermarket

Just add whatever ingredients you like into the mix,

fry it in a non-stick pan

add the yummy okonomiyaki sauce...

朋友教我如何在家做大阪燒

首先在日本超市買大阪燒mix包

然後隨個人喜好加食材mix在一起

用不沾鍋煎一煎

加點可口的大阪燒醬...

Squeeze some super delicious Japanese mayo

Sprinkle on dried bonito flakes...

再加上超級好吃的日式美乃滋

撒點柴魚片...

Lastly top off with some seaweed

and then dig in~~~

最後放點海苔

然後就可以享用了歐~~~

10+ hours of work

80+ miles of driving

and a taste of home.

Never take anything for granted, my friends.

and baked cupcakes (1st time for me!)

and oh, so addicting

You can eat them plain...

When I moved into my LA apt,
one side of my room is a blank, white wall
Now it is transformed into my inspiration wall
I'm constantly adding/changing the pictures/photos/things on it.
Currently it is featuring:

pages from the Dec 2010 Anthropologie catalog
photographs of these little fellows,
a few lace doilies I found while moving,
a Chinese poem written in the hand of calligraphy master, Mi Di
that I bought at the National Place Musuem in Taiwan.
and lots and lots of Japanese masking tape.

當我剛搬入在LA的公寓時,
我的房間有一面是完全空白的牆壁.
現在那面牆壁已經變成我的inspiration wall,
我不時會增加/改變上面的圖片/照片/東西

during these past 356 days I:

Started this little blog and entered the big blog world

Experienced heartbreak when my dear Grandmother passed away

Passed all of my exams

Spent two glorious months in Taiwan

Started my first full time job in LA

And learned to be brave on my own.

I caught a glimpse of sunset clouds,

the last rays of the setting sun

over a sea of white rolling clouds.

To the people on the ground below,

another day had just ended.

To me sitting on the plane above,

another chapter of my life had just begun.

夕陽最後幾道光芒,

射在一片白色雲海之上.

After spending so much time cooped up indoors
It's nice to breathe in fresh air
feel the wind in my face, camera in hand.
Some of the trees in the park
have already changed into Christmas red.
I bought a cinnamon raisin roll from a local bakery
and had it for lunch with a cup of Peppermint Mocha
from The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

因為大部分的時間我都在室內,
能走出去呼吸新鮮空氣,
感覺風吹在臉上,
手中拿著相機是極大的享受.

One month into my job I've learned
to function on less sleep and more coffee
to navigate through crazy LA traffic
to be adventurous on my own.
I also realized how important it is
to have a thankful heart
for the big things and little things in life
no matter how trivial they may be.

I'm thankful for
smooth traffic on the way to and from work
good co-workers and supervisors
last minute dinners with good friends
understanding family members
quiet nights when my neighbor turns down his music
finding cute things in unexpected places
(like this bear cup)
and kindness from strangers

Give thanks 8 times (or more) a day.
What are you thankful for today?

靠更少睡眠/更多咖啡運做
在恐怖的LA車陣中開車
勇敢獨自生活.

Maybe it's because I just survived

a second week out in the field

Maybe because it was nice to see

a friendly face in this big city

It was the best ramen I've ever had.

-traffic jam into downtown Chicago

-taxi driver that slams on breaks/changes lanes at last min

Get to pizza place and wait 45 min for them to make pizza

Pizza finally arrives on table at 9 p.m.

Get up early in the morning

一大早起來

pull open the curtains
把窗簾拉開

and embrace the sunshine
擁抱照射進來的陽光

I've just returned from a trip to Chicago (for work)
There wasn't time for me to do much exploring in the city
but I did get to enjoy the view from my hotel room window.
It was the best part of the trip.
我剛從芝加哥回來(為了工作)
我沒有機會在城市中探險
幸好我可以從旅館房間欣賞到美麗的風景.
那是整個trip中最棒的事情.

Halloween KitKat

I'm a big fan of KitKats,
so I was super excited when I heard about their special Halloween edition.

They are not easy to find...
我超級喜歡吃KitKats,
所以當我得知他們有特別的萬聖節版本時好興奮.
這些萬聖節限量版本真不好找...

"Normal"KitKat on the top
Halloween KitKat on the bottom
"正常"版本在上面
萬聖節版本在下面

The Halloween KitKats are orange
they taste alot sweeter than the "normal" ones
because they are coated in white chocolate.
萬聖節版本KitKats是橘色的
他們吃起來比"正常"版本的甜
因為外面包的是白色巧克力.
